Amal Marjani is a senior political science major at Howard.  Some of her green endeavors included interning for the Sierra Club, producing an eco-friendly fashion show for over ten thousand young environmentalists, working on environmental and energy policy for Chicago’s mayor, and serving as a Sustainable Energy Fellow at the University of Michigan. Because of her green efforts, Huffington Post and Mother Nature Network have highlighted her green achievements. Currently, she interns for American Council on Renwable Energy.

Besides her green activities, she has participated in other extracurricular activities. She co-chaired Howard Students for Barack Obama and served as Howard College Democrats’ president. Because of her team’s hard work during the last presidential campaign, she was featured on Al Jazerra, BBC, CBS, and NPR. Her other political activities included interning for the Senate Majority Leader, Harry Reid and Congressman Hank Johnson. Because of her accomplishments, she now serves as the youngest trustee for an international non-profit called PeacexPeace. This organization promotes international peace among women especially between Israel and Palestine. Furthermore, she serves on the board of the Labor Foundation. The mission of this organization is to lesson the literacy gap around the world.  After graduation, she plans to enter the energy and environmental sector in developed and under developed world.
